Pipeline runs on macOS. The free built-in local Ai needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) with 8GB+ of memory; Intel Macs can run Pipeline with cloud models and an API key. Windows isn't here yet — join the waitlist.
No. The built-in local Ai is free and needs no account, no key, and no credits — ever. If you want the premium cloud models too, you add your own Anthropic API key and pay Anthropic directly. Pipeline never marks up or meters your Ai.
The free local Ai runs entirely on your Mac — your conversations, files, and memory stay on your computer and work offline. If you choose to use the optional cloud models, those messages go to the provider on your own key, under their privacy terms.
The app itself is a normal download. The free local Ai model is about 5GB, fetched once in the background the first time you use it — you can keep working while it arrives, or start with a cloud model.
